When sending a secure message, the ability to pick between a smartphone or a Vocera badge, if both are an option, would be great.
The situation I'm thinking about is for our residents.  In the pilot we are planning the residents will have both, badges and smartphones, as they are already badge users.

If a resident prefers to send a quick message and knows another resident does not have their smartphone with them, the badge would be the best option.  An example of this would be if a resident forgot their smartphone at home (or lost it) and had a badge on at work.  If they do not have the option to choose, now they are forced to message a smartphone at someone's house (or wherever), which is not useful.  Yes, they could call them, if they have an iOS device, but the option would be great.  Plus, with text being the preferred communication method for many people, having the choice is a plus!
